INTRODUCTION TO ATTITUDE & SELF-ESTEEM
Attitude is an outlook which has been shaped by past experiences, whether we are aware of it or not. Key components which will help re-shape attitude are honour and respect, forgiveness and responsibility, and self-talk questions.
Self-esteem is the degree to which you believe that you can meet challenges and live the life you choose and deserve. You can differentiate between circumstances over which you have some control, and those which are beyond your control.
What is Attitude & Self-Esteem?
We all have natural ability to notice another person’s attitude towards us, be it positive or negative. Attitude is entirely our responsibility. It can be described as an outward expression of your inward belief, or a habitual mental response to past events and experiences. So, without consciously deciding to, you can have an attitude which is mostly negative, if you do nothing to challenge your thinking. If it is a conditioned response, then it is possible to reverse the conditioning, proactively. But, only if you want to!
